Scripture Reading: Luke 14:1. And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
Reflections: The Pharisees were a religious sect in the days of Jesus Christ. They disliked Him in every way because He often took them on and chastised them for their hypocritical attitudes. Despite these tensions that often generated between the Pharisees and Jesus, He accepted an invitation to have dinner with one of them. It was apparent that He had discerned that the eating of bread with a Pharisees will open a door where He could minister to them the more. This proved to be so. During the dinner time, He used parables to teach them about the principles of the kingdom. He will never let go an opportunity to bring the word of God into people’s lives. Like Jesus, seize the opportunities that come your way to reach out to people with the gospel. The transformative power of God’s word must reach many at all cost! Paul was right when he said, ‘to the weak I became weak in order to win the weak’. ‘I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means, I might save some of them’ – 1Co 9:22.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to utilize any opportunity that comes my way to preach the gospel to the lost.
Confession: I do not let go of opportunities to reach out to the lost!
