Scripture Reading: Luke 1: 38
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Reflections: The angel told Mary that she would conceive and bear a child without any sexual interaction. When she thought that this was impossible, the angel drew her attention to how this same power had reversed the barrenness of her cousin Elizabeth, who was now six months pregnant. The angel wanted Mary to understand that when the power of the highest God moves into action, it is limitless in achieving any desired results. It is all-sufficient to deliver as expected. As she held on to this understanding, the prophetic word came to pass. She conceived and gave birth to Jesus. Among others, the Christmas narrative sends forth the message that God’s power is all sufficient. It can introduce something new in your life or undo what has remained irreversible. Merry Christmas!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that I can encounter your all-sufficient power.

Confession: The power of the Highest is on my side. Nothing is impossible to me.
