Tuesday, 19th April 2016: You can’t afford to miss the coming awards ceremony!

Scripture Reading: 2Tim4:6-8
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Reflection: It was a wonder for Timothy to read from Paul, his mentor that he was actually happy and ready to die. The source of this happiness stemmed from the fact that Paul had received a revelation from God about an upcoming awards ceremony which will take place in heaven. At the ceremony, Paul hints, all christians including himself who had met a set criteria were going to be awarded crowns of righteousness. The criteria involved having fought a good fight, having finished the course and having kept the faith. This speaks of Christians who on daily basis truly deny themselves, take up their crosses and respond to the will of God until their death (Luke 9:23). This was enough inspiration for Timothy. He was going to make it to this ceremony too at all cost! Be inspired to live for Christ alone! You can’t afford to miss this coming awards ceremony. Like Paul, fight a good fight, finish your course and keep the faith!

Prayer: Lord, help me to fight a good fight, finish my course and keep the faith!

Confession: I am inspired to live for Christ alone. I deny myself of all worldliness. I take up the challenge to do God’s will all the days of my life. Nothing will make me backslide and quit the faith. I press on!
