Tuesday, 18th July 2017: Get moving!

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:32 -34
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Reflections: The writer of Hebrews presents a tall list of feats accomplished by some people. A look at these includes acts such as subduing kingdoms, stopping the mouth of lions, and quenching the violence of fire. These tasks looked impossible but they were successfully undertaken and achieved. Take the case of Gideon for instance. He was asked by God to overthrow the oppression of the Medianites at a time that the presence of the Medianites had gripped him and the whole of Israel in fear. He felt he could not do it (Judges 6:14-16) but in the final analysis, with an army of just 300 men, he won a decisive victory over the huge and sophisticated Midianite army (Judges 7:19-25). This simply implies that God will never ask you to do something you cannot do! Think about it again! As long as God wants you to do something, it just means that you can do it! It is your turn to make the list in the book of Hebrews 11 taller! Get moving!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to understand that I can do whatever you want me to do.

Confession: I can do whatever God wants me to do. I am more than I can ever think of. I am on the move.
