Tuesday, 18th January 2022: Avoid taking undue and selfish advantage of others!

Scripture Reading: 1 Th 4:6
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified

Reflections: The Apostle Paul indicated in his letter to the Thessalonians that they should not forget how he had severally informed and warned them about the danger involved in defrauding people. He intimated that such acts attract the vengeance of God on behalf of the victims. The word ‘defraud’ is translated from the Greek word ‘pleonekteō’. It means to take selfish advantage of someone or to exploit the person. Thus it is wrong in life to seize opportunities that arise as a result of the weaknesses or vulnerabilities of others. To stay clear off the path of God’s wrath, avoid taking undue and selfish advantage of others.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to stay away from taking undue and selfish advantage of people I come into contact with.

Confession: I don’t take undue and selfish advantage of people in life.
