Tuesday, 18th August 2020: Think carefully before you act!

Scripture Reading Esther 1:12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.

On the seventh day of the royal feast, King Ahasuerus filled with joy requested the presence of his wife  Queen Vashti. He wanted to introduce her to the crowd and to showcase her beauty in the process. Vashti at the time had also organized a party for the women in the royal house. She declined the command of the King before the chamberlains who had been sent. This sent shock waves to the entire kingdom. By her action, she had demonstrated gross disrespect to the king. Infuriated by this, the king after conferring with his wisemen on the matter decided to get rid of Vashti. Vashti lost her position and glory as Queen at the end of the day. This could have been avoided if she had not been impulsive with her action. Clearly she failed to weigh the pros and cons of her decision before moving into action.  It is important in life not to be swayed by emotional or involuntary impulses. It  may seem pleasing to you at the onset but can cost you a life time! Just think carefully and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you before you act!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to avoid impulsive attitudes in life.
Confession: I am not swayed by emotional or involuntary impulses. I think carefully before I act.
