Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:19-20
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Reflections: In discussing the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul sheds light on the type of power used by the Holy Spirit to produce that unmatched testimony. His use of the Hebrew words for power (dunamis), mighty (ischus), and power (Kratos) to describe the power of the resurrection says it all. While dunamis refers to miraculous ability, ischus discusses the power to overcome imminent opposition. Kratos, on the other hand, speaks of authority that governs and controls things in any jurisdiction. Thus, the power of resurrection points to a combination or product of the Holy Spirit’s unparalleled and limitless abilities. It tells us that the Holy Spirit can do anything, resist anything, and pervade any jurisdiction. All you need is the Holy Spirit and His power!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for your Spirit and His power!
Confession: I depend on the Holy Spirit and His power!
