Tuesday, 17th September 2024: The Danger of Forgetting History!

Scripture Reading: Exodus 1:8-10
“Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph…”
Reflections: When a new king came to power in Egypt, he had no knowledge of Joseph’s significant contributions to Egypt’s survival and prosperity. This ignorance led him to view the growing population of the Israelites as a threat rather than a blessing. Fearful of their numbers, the king decided to oppress them, turning the Israelites into slaves. His failure to recognize the positive impact of Joseph’s legacy led to unjust treatment of God’s people. This teaches us the importance of remembering the past. When we forget how God has worked in history, we risk making decisions based on fear and misunderstanding. By honoring the lessons of the past, we can avoid unnecessary conflict and act wisely.
Prayer: Lord, help me remember the past and act with wisdom and grace.
Confession: I will trust in God’s faithfulness and remember the lessons of history.
