Tuesday, 17th December 2024: The Legacy of Kindness!

Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 9:7-9
“And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.”

Reflections: David’s kindness to Mephibosheth was rooted in his covenant with Jonathan, Mephibosheth’s father. Jonathan’s loyalty and kindness to David during turbulent times created a legacy that Mephibosheth benefited from long after Jonathan’s death. This passage teaches a profound truth: the kindness we show today can bless future generations. God values and honors kindness, often allowing it to impact posterity in unexpected ways. As believers, we should strive to show kindness, not for immediate rewards, but with the understanding that our actions today can create a ripple effect of blessings for our descendants. Like David honored Jonathan’s kindness through Mephibosheth, God can use our acts of kindness to bless future generations. Sow kindness, knowing that God will use it to establish generational blessings.

Prayer: Father, let my acts of kindness create a legacy of favor and blessings for generations to come.

Confession: I walk in kindness, knowing that it reflects God’s heart.
