Scripture Reading: 2Kings 5:17
And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? For thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods but unto the LORD
Reflections: Leprosy afflicted Naaman, a pagan commander in the Syrian army, in spite of his military achievements. After learning one day of Elisha’s prophetic healing ministry, he resolved to pay him a visit. His visit was fruitful, as he was restored to health by God after seven times dipping himself in the Jordan River as Elisha had instructed. Naaman’s life was transformed by this miracle; he ceased his adherence to pagan beliefs and began to venerate the God of Israel. The narrative of Naaman teaches us that every act of divine compassion we experience should inspire us to give our lives to God and dedicate ourselves to serve Him alone.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for your kindness. I submit totally to you.
Confession: I am inspired by divine kindness to submit to God and to serve him only.
