Scripture Reading: 1 Sam17:46
This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
Reflections: The battle between David and Goliath will remain one of the most amazing historical events of all time. The unimaginable happened. The young and inexperienced David brought the reign of the undisputed Philistine warlord to an end with a sling of a stone! Why did God allow such a wonder to happen? The answer is encoded in David’s battle field words – ‘that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel’. His bid for engaging in the battle was not to get personal fame but to make His God famous. An important principle in life is therefore to live to make a name for God and not for oneself. Failure to do this can cause one to loose his/her place of significance in life. A clear supporting example is the story of the Tower of Babel (Gen 11:4-9). Seek to make God famous and your ‘Goliath’ will fall! Like David, you will enter into the center stage of life!
Prayer: Lord let my motivation in life, be to make you famous!
Confession: I live to make God famous.
