Scripture Reading: Psalm 35: 3, 5-6:
Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
Reflections: David came under persecution. As he prays, he requests God to also persecute those who have brought him under his present state. The word ‘persecution’ in the hebrew is ‘râdaph’ which means ‘ to put to flight’. When you are persecuted, it is obvious that your enemy puts your life to flight and thereby introduces you to instability. However when we call on God, He steps in between you and the persecutor, causing the persecutor to turn round and run away from you. By this, the persecutor is also put to flight whiles your life is left alone to enjoy stability! Your persecutors will come under divine persecution!
Prayer: Oh God, let your angels put to flight every persecutor in my life. Let them be driven away like chaff before the wind.
Confession: All my persecutors have come under divine persecution. They have become as chaff before the wind. The angel of the Lord has put them to flight.
