Scripture Reading: Psalm 106:32
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so it went ill with Moses for their sakes: They provoked his spirit to spake unadvisedly with his lips.
Reflections: Sometimes, people can get you angry by what they do or say to you. However, when we allow ourselves to be provoked by such actions to manifest behaviours that contradict God’s word, we get into trouble with God. Such was the case of Moses. God promised to take him to Canaan, but this prophetic word was short-lived due to his anger-led behaviour. Anger made him ‘speak unadvisedly with his lips’ and pushed him to strike the rock twice (Numbers 20:9-11). Many may not encounter their ‘promised land’ due to anger-led behaviours. Anger-led behaviour is when you allow anger to provoke you to do anything outside the will of God. It is vital to control your anger.
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the grace to maintain a spirit that cannot be provoked by anger.
Confession: I don’t allow anger to provoke me to do anything outside the will of God.
