Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1:16
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Reflections: Peter emphatically informed the church that the life and redemptive work of Christ which forms the basis of the Christian faith is not a cunningly devised fable. A cunningly devised fable refers to a story cleverly invented by people to guide behavior and attitudes in the society such as the popular Ghanaian folklore Ananse Sem. Once you discover that a story you so adhere to, only happens to be a cleverly devised fable, you tend to loose confidence in it and treat it very lightly. Such is what can happen to you if you ever allow people to make you believe that God’s word is just a cunningly devised fable. Don’t ever forget that the empty tomb of Jesus is still there for all to see. The life and redemptive work of Christ is 100% real!
Prayer: I reject any thought to the intent that the life and redemptive work of Christ is a cunningly devised fable in Jesus name.
Confession: Get thee behind me, devil. My mind is made up. The life and redemptive work of Christ is real! It is not a cunningly devised fable. The empty tomb is there for all to see.
