Scripture Reading:1Sam 10: 26-27
And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched. But the children of Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
Reflection: There were shouts of ‘God save the King’ among the people as Samuel publicly announced that Saul had been chosen by God to be their king. Saul had been set on a new path. There was however one thing which caught his attention- the presence of a group of people who resented and despised him. They will simply not accept him as king. This was enough to break him down emotionally but he had the key to surmount this- he just kept his peace! By implication, he ignored the presence of these people and what they stood for. In life, people may despise you and may not accept you. When you choose to worry over this, you will break down emotionally and end up loosing focus and interest in working towards achieving your goal in life. The best way out is to behave like Saul- just ignore them and carry on. Certainly the presence of despisers cannot stop you!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the will power to move on despite the presence of despisers.
Confession: The presence of despisers cannot stop me from forging ahead in life.
