Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6-7 (NKJV)
So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him!”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Reflections: When Samuel saw Eliab, he immediately assumed he was the one God had chosen as king because of his outward appearance. However, the Lord corrected Samuel, revealing that He does not look at outward appearances but at the heart. Often, we make decisions based on first impressions or what appears to be right, but God’s perspective is different. The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to discern beyond the surface, helping us make choices that align with God’s will. Relying on human perception can lead to mistakes. Trust the Holy Spirit’s guidance to see beyond appearances and align your choices with God’s plan.
Prayer: Lord, help me to see as You see, beyond the surface.
Confession: I will not be swayed by outward appearances. I trust in the Lord to guide my choices.
