Tuesday, 12th July 2016: Your conscience speaks to you: Don’t ignore its voice of conviction!

Scripture Reading: John 8:9
And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Reflection: When Jesus asked that the one amongst them who had never sinned before should cast the first stone at the woman, they were pricked in their hearts. The level of conviction brought to them by their own conscience was so strong that one by one they all left the scene. Thus their conscience spoke to them and they listened! Your conscience is a powerful guide created by God to operate within you. It helps you make sound moral judgments in life. Conscience is defined as ‘the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action’. Like the Pharisees and Sadducees, you must also listen to your conscience within you. It can take you out from what is undesirable in life. Indeed your conscience speaks to you: Don’t ignore it!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the presence of conscience in my life. I submit it to your Holy Spirit. Let my conscience guide me out of the undesirable in life.

Confession: My conscience within me speaks. I will not ignore its voice of conviction.
