Scripture Reading: Lamentations 3:21-22
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.
Reflections: The Book of Lamentations features Jeremiah’s sorrowful reaction to the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple. Despite his grief, he managed to recall the mercies of the Lord, which helped him cope with his emotional turmoil and continue with his prophetic ministry. In essence, he inspired himself with his knowledge of God’s mercies. The word ‘inspiration’ comes from the Latin ‘inspirare’, meaning ‘to breathe into’. It implies getting something positive to stimulate your mind, that helps you change direction or develop something new to keep moving forward. You can draw inspiration from the scriptures, biblically-based songs, exemplary lives, or testimonies. Like Jeremiah, it would help if you inspired yourself to overcome challenges, drawing on positive information, thoughts, feelings and situations.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me get myself inspired.
Confession: I get myself inspired.
