Scripture Reading: Genesis 19:29
And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.
Reflections: The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire from heaven, but Lot was rescued by angels before the catastrophe, surely bringing him immense relief and gratitude to God for His mercy. While Lot may not have immediately recognised the reason for this divine intervention, it was undoubtedly due to his uncle Abraham’s strong relationship with God (Genesis 19:29). Abraham’s deep fellowship with God led to God’s intervention on Lot’s behalf. This illustrates how our relationship with God can benefit others, even leading to divine intervention in their times of need. Acts 27:22–24 also demonstrates this principle, as Paul’s presence on a shipwrecked vessel led to God’s salvation of everyone on board. Your growing relationship with God is a channel of blessing for others, so nurture it!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for using my relationship with you as a channel to bless my loved ones.
Confession: My relationship with God is a channel of blessing to others.
