Scripture Reading: Acts 7:25
For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
Reflections: Moses was born in Egypt during a period when all male newborns born to Jewish women were to be executed. His life was miraculously spared, and he was nurtured as a prince in the Egyptian monarch’s court. Despite his new life and education, Moses never forgot his Hebrew ancestry. Furthermore, as he grew older, he realized that his purpose in life was to one day release his tribe from Egyptian servitude. As a result, when he watched a battle between an Egyptian and one of his fellow Hebrew guys, he assisted in the killing the Egyptian. He fell into trouble when this action became known. When the King ordered his capture and execution, he fled into the desert where he became a fugitive. We might deduce from this course of events that, while Moses was destined to be a deliverer, the moment for his manifestation had not yet arrived. He had consequently gone ahead of God. When you get ahead of God, you will face challenges, just like Moses. Recognize the appropriate time to engage in behaviors related to achieving your life’s goal.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to live a discerning life so I don’t go ahead of you.
Confession: I do not go ahead of God.
