Scripture Reading: Genesis 37:11
“And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.”
Reflections: When Joseph shared his dreams, foretelling his rise to prominence, his brothers were filled with envy, seeing only their own perceived loss. Yet, Jacob, their father, took a different approach. Instead of reacting with jealousy, he reflected on the dreams with wisdom, recognizing that God might be revealing something important. This passage teaches us to pause when we witness others’ successes or breakthroughs. Rather than letting envy cloud our hearts, we should seek to understand what God might be doing. Sometimes, what we see as someone else’s gain may hold lessons for our own growth and future. By reflecting wisely, like Jacob, we position ourselves to respond with grace and align with God’s greater purpose for our lives.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me reflect on the breakthroughs of others with wisdom and not envy.
Confession: I reflect on the breakthroughs of others with wisdom and not envy.
