Scripture Reading: Esther 9:2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
Reflections: It’s been years now in captivity. On this particular day, when an executive order to have them killed should have been effected, they rather marched into the houses of the Medo-Persians and began to kill them. The Medo-Persians were just afraid of them and stood helpless. They remembered how divinely the Jewish kinsman and their slave, Mordecai, had been honored and promoted to the position of Prime Minister by their own King and how Haman, the right hand man of the king and high ranking officer of the kingdom had died in his place. Besides, the memory of how Mordecai’s cousin, Esther, another slave had earlier on become their Queen under circumstances they just could not understand was still fresh. They knew a supernatural hand was behind these Jews and they dared not react at this time. Like the Jews, God will make a way for your enemies to fear you! This fear will paralyze their ability to fight back.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that you know how best to put my fear and dread upon my enemies.
Confession: God makes a way for my enemies to fear me.
