Scripture Reading: Judges 11:9
And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
Reflections: Life as an outcast was not that easy for Jephthah but he carried on. Having been cast out of his father’s house by his half brothers, he relocated to the land of Tob to make a living in the bush. One day he was approached for help by his kinsmen who threw him out of his homeland. They needed him to ward of the threat of the Amorites. He saw through this as an opportunity to get back home and to ascend the ‘throne’ of leadership. He seized it at once and led his kinsmen to defeat the Amorites in the war. His victory indeed won him back to his homeland where he was appointed as the ruler of Gilead. Opportunity is ‘an occasion or situation that makes it possible to do something that you want to do or have to do’. Like the case of Jepthah, God will always allow opportunities to come your way so you can break out of your limitations. You must learn to discern and seize it. Learn to seize opportunities in life!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please enable me to seize opportunities as you bring them my way.
Confession: I will never lack opportunities in life. Neither will I allow any to pass me by without seizing it.
