Scripture Reading: Act 8:39
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, thats the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
Reflections: As they walked together, suddenly Philip vanished from his sight. The disappearance of Philip who had led him to Christ and had had him baptized seemed not to bother him at all. He rather kept rejoicing as he rode on his chariot back to Ethiopia. Careful analysis will prove that the source of his joy was his discovery that having being born again, his name had been written in the book of life. Many Christians, perhaps including you, do not even once think of the fact that their names are written in the book of life and they lack the everlasting joy that this brings. The book of life contains the names of those who are born again. Such ones will not face eternal damnation ( Rev 20:15). Indeed the joy in your life must be derived from your knowledge that your name is written in the book of life. Jesus pointed this out to his disciples ( Luke 10: 17-20). Paul also enlightened the Philippians about it (Philippians 4:4). When thoughts of knowing your name is written in the book of life becomes the source of joy in life, nothing can stop you from rejoicing in life. Like the Ethiopian, you may encounter the loss of a ‘ Phillip’ in life but you will still rejoice. Keep rejoicing!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that my name is written in the book of life. This remains the source of my joy.
Confession: I rejoice daily in life. My name is written in the book of life. This is more than enough for me. I will rejoice and again rejoice!
