Scripture Reading: Joshua 14:8-9
Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
Reflection: They had been sent out by Moses to spy the land of Canaan before its conquest. They returned with news about how fertile the land was as promised by God. His colleagues had however caused a stir and a rebellion in the camp of Israel by insisting that the giants who lived on the land were going to make their conquest impossible. He had a different opinion all together. He defended the word of God and submitted to the whole camp that the conquest was going to be easy and possible because it was an action based on the command of God. Moses found his stance and respect for the word of God so outstanding that he decided to compensate him for his action. He was therefore promised Hebron as his personal inheritance. Now the time was due for Caleb to receive Hebron as his compensation and he puts in the request to Joshua, Moses’ successor. The compensation distinguished him from the whole of Israel. It always pays to wholly believe and follow God’s word no matter what. It will engender a package of divine compensation for your life. Be encouraged and keep holding on to His word and to His promises no matter the odds. You will surely be due for a divine compensation. It is coming!
Prayer: Oh Lord, let me encounter divine compensation just as Caleb did. I hold on to your word and to your promises relentlessly.
Confession: I hold on to the word of God relentlessly. I will never give up on God’s word no matter what. Divine compensation will come my way.
