Scripture Reading:1 Samuel 25:32-33
“Then David said to Abigail, ‘Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice, and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.’”
Reflections: In moments of anger or impulsiveness, godly advice can act as a divine intervention that steers us toward wisdom and peace. David, on the verge of taking revenge against Nabal for his insult and disrespect, was stopped by Abigail’s timely counsel. Her wisdom and humility calmed David’s anger, helping him avoid a rash decision that would have led to bloodshed and damaged his integrity. Godly advice is a gift from Him, often delivered through people filled with His wisdom. Heeding such advice protects us from making decisions that bring regret, maintains our character, and aligns us with God’s will. David’s response to Abigail’s counsel shows the importance of recognizing and appreciating godly guidance in our lives.
Prayer: Father, Help me to recognize and heed Your wisdom, whether it comes through Your Word, prayer, or others You place in my life.
Confession: I embrace godly counsel with humility and wisdom.
