Scripture Reading: 2Kings 7:2
Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof
Reflections: Samaria encountered famine. It was so severe that even the droppings of a bird went up for sale at a price unimaginable. The condition was such that people started becoming cannibals. However, a 24 hour season of breakthrough was announced by the Prophet Elisha. True to the prophetic word, the season of famine came to an end miraculously. Out of fear and panic generated divinely by God, the Syrian army who had besieged Samaria fled, leaving behind their food supply. The people of Samaria rushed for this food supply. In the process, one man who was inadvertently walked over by the crowd died. Sadly, he laid amid abundance. This calamity befell him because he had doubted the prophetic word regarding the 24-hour breakthrough and had been informed of the consequences by Elisha. According to Elisha, for failing to believe God’s word, the man was only going to witness the miracle of food supply without ever getting the opportunity to eat from it. From this story, we see how dangerous it is for one to go on the tangent of doubting God’s word. Just remain doubtless whenever God speaks to you!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to believe your word no matter what.
Confession: I remain doubtless when it comes to the word of God!
