Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 2:19
But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
Reflection: Nehemiah had a mission to fulfill. He had to lead his people to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem. He faced four major challenges, the first being a mental assault. Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshom, his enemies made ugly remarks about the work that was being done. They spoke so negatively to discourage him but Nehemiah refused to be discouraged by words. He stood firm and defied this level of assault. This allowed the work to continue to a phase. One of the greatest challenges you can face in life is mental assault. The positive nature of the mindset you have to accomplish a task can be corrupted by what you hear from people, especially those who envy you and do not wish you well in life. David’s brother’s did so to him when he wanted to fight Goliath. David however maintained a positive mind and still went ahead for the fight. He won in the process and was promoted in life ( 1 Sam 17:24-37). You must learn to ignore and defy negative words spoken to you in this life.
Prayer: Oh Lord, give me the grace to overcome mental assault in life.
Confession: No negative words can have a toll on my life. I will not accept and allow what people say to discourage me in life.
