Scripture Reading: Acts 7:9-10
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him, And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

Reflections: What envy can do is just unimaginable! Joseph was sold by his own brothers because of envy. Envy is defined as ‘when you wish that you have something that another person has’. The key thing about it is that it is associated with ill-will for the person you become envious of. No wonder envy may be the reason why people can suffer in life. We know for instance how it instigated the Philistines to fight Isaac’s bid to dig wells. We also know how it motivated King Saul to make life so difficult and unbearable for David. Envy could not however stop Joseph from attaining his given height in life. God stepped in! His presence delivered him from the acts of envy. This same presence is yours! Call for it! God will surely deliver and protect you from the spirit and works of envy, and like Joseph you will have a testimony! The spirit of envy cannot stop you!! Amen!

Prayer: O God, deliver me from envious people and their evil acts.
