Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 16:11
“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.”
Reflections: When the prophet Samuel went to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king, Jesse presented each of his sons—except David, who was left out in the fields tending sheep. David seemed the least likely choice, not even counted among the options. But God doesn’t measure by human standards. Where others overlook, God sees potential. Though David was excluded, God called him forward, declaring, “Arise, anoint him: for this is he.” This story teaches us that we may sometimes feel overlooked or unimportant, but our value is not determined by human opinions. God sees what others may not see, and He counts us even when others do not. No matter how unseen or insignificant you may feel, remember that God is aware of you, and He has a purpose for you that no one can take away.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing me even when others overlook me.
Confession: I am seen, valued, and counted by God.
