Scripture Reading: 1Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Reflection: Many christians do not offer any service to promote the work of the kingdom. They just enjoy warming the church pews. It’s all about just making appearances at church services. It is important to know that this is unscriptural and must be discouraged. In closing his letter to the church at Corinth, Paul admonishes all the church members to give themselves to the work of the Lord. Why will he do this, if truly we are not expected to offer any service to advance God’s kingdom on earth? Indeed Paul does not only encourage us to find something doing at church but goes on to reiterate that we should excel in the service we offer and position ourselves such that we will not give up in rendering the services. We are to remain ‘steadfast and unmovable’ in what we do for the Lord. It is time to assess what role you play at church to advance God’s kingdom on earth and how you do it. Does it match up to God’s expectation? Refuse to be just a church goer! Find something doing, keep doing it and do it well. Your labor in the Lord will be rewarded!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to offer my services to advance your work on earth.
Confession: I refuse to be just a church goer! I play a significant role in promoting kingdom business in my church.
