Scripture Reading: Acts 16:37 (KJV)
But Paul said unto them, they have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? Nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.”
Reflections: Paul and Silas had been unjustly beaten and imprisoned in Philippi without trial, a clear violation of their rights as Roman citizens. When the authorities later sought to release them quietly, Paul boldly insisted that justice be served. He refused to be dismissed in secrecy after such public mistreatment. His boldness led to the magistrates acknowledging their wrongdoing and personally escorting them out. This passage highlights an important truth: as believers, we should not passively accept injustice. Paul’s response teaches us that we can and should stand for what is right. Being Christian does not mean tolerating unfair treatment in silence. God calls us to seek justice—not through violence or revenge, but through boldness, wisdom, and rightful demand for accountability.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the boldness to stand for justice.
Confession: I am bold to stand for justice. Amen.
