Scripture Reading: 1Tim 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some were having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
Reflections: Paul exhorts Timothy to employ the prophesies he has received about his life and ministry as weapons in spiritual warfare. He informs Timothy, however, that the warefare must be conducted with faith and a good conscience. According to Paul, every attempt to marginalize moral conscience brings one to disaster. Conscience is the mind’s voice. It endorses or condemns your behavior. When you sin or take offense and refuse to repent and let go, your conscience loses its effectiveness. You start to make poor decisions in life. According to Witness Lee, this then ‘leads to a faith leakage’. Once faith is lost, it is impossible to advance in the Christian life. To retain a good conscience, do not harbor sin and offenses.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to keep a good conscience.
Confession: I maintain a good conscience.
