Thursday, 5th October 2023: Be willing to lend a hand, especially when it is within your means!

Scripture Reading: Prov 3:27-28 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee

Reflections: Many people ignore their relationships with others in favour of concentrating only on their relationship with God. But the Bible also reminds us that having good relationships with other people is crucial because it affects our relationship with God. Being willing to lend a hand when necessary is one way we may show others that we are a brotherhood and foster positive relationships. The Psalmist counsels us to always be willing to lend a hand, especially when it is within our means. Nothing should stop us from helping others when we have the resources and feel inspired by the Spirit to do so. Our relationship with God depends on us showing love and assistance to people in need, which demonstrates our sincere connection to Him.
Prayer: Please, Lord, enable me to help others as a sign of my love for you.
Confession: I help others as a sign of my love for God.
