Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 3:17-18 (KJV)
“And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you: Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.”
Reflections: Abner, a former ally of Saul, had initially opposed David’s kingship. Yet, in 2 Samuel 3:17-18, he urged the elders of Israel to embrace what had long been spoken by God—that David was His chosen vessel to lead Israel and deliver them from their enemies. Abner’s change of heart highlights a significant truth: when God’s time arrives, those who once opposed His will are either removed or compelled to align with it. The key lesson here is patience and trust in God’s timing. Sometimes it may seem as though the fulfilment of His promises is delayed or blocked by human opposition. But God’s plans cannot be thwarted. When His time comes, everything and everyone will fall into place, even those who were obstacles before.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust Your timing and rest in the assurance that Your plans for me will come to pass.
Confession: No opposition can prevail against God’s purpose for my life.
