Scripture Reading: Luke 11:27-28
And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it
Reflections: A woman listening to Jesus teach could not help but wonder who gave birth to such an eloquent expositor of God’s word. She even imagined how delighted Jesus’ mother would be to have such a special son and interrupted Jesus’ sermon delivery with those thoughts. Jesus’ response provided an opposing viewpoint and demonstrated that the woman had missed everything. Those who listen to the word and work hard to keep it, according to Jesus, are those who are blessed. From this we can deduce that while listening to sermons, we should focus on ourselves rather than on others and that our focus should be on how we will personally apply the message to our lives rather than how others should react to it. Focus on getting your life transformed by the word of God!
Prayer: Please Lord, help me focus on getting my life transformed by your word!
Confession: I focus on getting my life transformed by the word of God!
