Scripture Reading: 1 Cor 12:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Reflections: Temptation is simply an enticement to sin. It is deployed by satan to create a desire in you to do wrong or unwise. Once you yield to the craving, sin occurs. The Apostle Paul unveils in his letter to the Corinthian church two key provisions divinely put in place in our lives to ensure that we overcome any temptation. The first is to remember that God does not allow any temptation beyond what we can handle to confront us. The second is to remember that God has put a way of escape (an exit out of a confined area) for any given temptation. Thus whenever you are tempted, you must remember that you have been given the capacity to overcome it. This will automatically boost your ability to resist it. Then, while resisting the demands of that temptation, you must look out for a way of escape and utilise it immediately. If you tackle the challenge of being tempted this way, you will surely stay free from sin. You are designed to overcome temptations!
Prayer: Lord, I thank you that I have the provisions to overcome any temptation.
Confession: There is no temptation I cannot overcome.
