Scripture Reading: Luke 17:17-18
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
Reflection: The ten lepers needed help badly. They could only be reintegrated into normal life if they were healed of their leprosy. Standing afar, they saw Jesus passing by. Releasing their faith for healing, they cried unto him. In his mercies, Jesus responded positively to their request. As they marched into town on the basis of Jesus’ instructions, they discovered they had been healed. In their moment of joy, one of them knew he could not forget all about the healer. He needed to rush back to thank him. With gratitude in his heart, he returned to glorify Jesus and to thank him. While commending him for his attitude, Jesus found the behavior of the other nine completely out of place. They had failed to meet a divine expectation. They had breached a divine rule. Thanksgiving is a required lifestyle in the kingdom. Don’t ever be like the nine lepers in life. Learn to consciously give glory to God for his acts of kindness and goodness in your life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to maintain a heart of gratitude in life!
Confession: I will not take the goodness of God in my life for granted. I will always thank him. I will not breach the divine rule of showing gratitude to God.
