Scripture Reading: Act 19:15
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Reflections:The sons of Sceva rightly noted that Paul was a man of spiritual dominion. Even handkerchiefs from his body could cast out demons and heal people. They discovered what made Paul to be in control all the time -the name Jesus Christ. They decided to move into action. They looked at the demon possessed man and commanded the evil spirit to leave him in the name of Jesus. Sadly, the response and disastrous. The evil spirit pounced on them and gave them such a beating which left them running around naked. The demons query ‘Paul I know, Jesus I know but you, who are you’, before pouncing on them, they set out clearly why they failed. They had no established relationship with the personality behind the name Jesus Christ. Unlike them, Paul had a relationship with Jesus which gave him the right to subdue and to be in control over affairs. That’s what you need to make sure you have too. The right to exercise spiritual dominion is not free and neither can it be bought with money (Acts 8:18-20). It is a by-product of a divine relationship.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me establish a right relationship with you
Confession: I maintain a right relationship with God. By default, I have dominion in life.
