Scripture Reading: Luke 10:42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Reflections: Jesus visited the home of Mary and Martha. This was an exciting moment for both women. The response of their excitements however took different forms. While Martha concentrated on getting a sumptuous meal prepared for their host, Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus raptly listening to an exposition of scriptures. Jesus commended and approved of the action of Mary by indicating that it is the one thing needful to do. The word ‘needful’ implies a requirement of priority. As the year 2020 closes and gives way to a new one (2021) people will be found to respond to this major shift in various ways. Despite this, only one thing will still be needful and indeed it has ever been-holding on to the word of God. It will still be the lamp you need to guide your feet and the light to direct your path (Psalm 119:105). Keep subscribed to the influence of the word of God as you March on into the new year. Happy new year in advance!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me stay glued to your word no matter what.
Confession: I keep to the one thing needful-a life, subscribed daily to the influence of the word of God.
