Scripture Reading: Rev 1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Reflections: It is amazing to note the deep things shared by John in the book of Revelations so that the church of God would be well prepared for future events. The whole story of John having received these mysteries from God testifies of the ever readiness of God to share deep things with His children so that they will not be overtaken by events. In this regard, a key question that comes to mind is how to get God to speak to you. Apostle John gives us the clue. He mentions that he ‘was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind him a great voice, as of a trumpet’. To be in the Spirit is then the key to hearing from the Spirit. The trumpet of information could have sounded alright in the Spirit on the Lord’s day but if John had failed to be in the Spirit, he would have missed it all. To be in the Spirit is to have your spirit or inner man yielded to the Holy Spirit and His promptings. It is time to begin or increase this spiritual discipline in your life. There are no two ways about this: You must be in the Spirit in order to hear from Him!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please teach and help me to yield my spirit to yours.
Confession: My Spirit is yielded to the Holy Spirit. I hear from Him and I am not overtaken by events.
