Scripture Reading: Numbers 32:32
We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
Reflection: The tribes of Reuben and Gad changed their minds completely. They were no longer interested in taking up arms to fight alongside the rest of the tribes of Israel to possess their inheritance in Canaan. They wanted Moses to allow them to make their living on a fertile land they had found along the way. Moses knew this was a violation of the instructions of God. They only way he could get them back on board was to remind them of a past event. As the two tribes listened to him narrate the historical account of how a section of their brethren who were sent out to initially spy out the land of Canaan rebelled against the instructions of God and died untimely, they rescinded their decision. They now informed Moses they were ready to take up arms to fight. It is always important to take a cue from history. It will help you to avoid making repeated mistakes in life. The power of history is available for your use. Don’t fail to use it.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me learn from the past.
Confession: I learn from the past. I don’t repeat mistakes.
