Scripture Reading: Acts 16: 15
And when she was baptised, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
Reflections: Lydia was observed by Paul and Silas as they passed along the riverbank. She was a seller from Thyatira who dealt in luxurious purple cloth. They initiated conversation with her and began sharing the gospel with her shortly thereafter. God made her heart receptive to the message. She subsequently devoted her entire life to Christ and was baptized. Then, she persuaded the Apostles to stay in her home and served as their hospitable host for the duration of their missionary work. This implied that she took care of their material and financial needs so that they could focus more on their primary mission of evangelism. Her extraordinary act exemplifies how church members should willingly and voluntarily support those who preach the gospel. Like Lydia, seek to promote the kingdom, as you are led, by supporting the messengers of the gospel.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me support messengers of the gospel with my substance
Confession: I willingly support messengers of the gospel with my substance.
