Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:6a
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Reflection: The prophetic voice of Isaiah announced the birth of Christ before it took place. The words ‘unto us’ is employed twice in his prophetic declaration. This diction, cleverly chosen reveals an undeniable truth-Jesus was not born for himself but for others. Thus he came to save sinners. By implication, we are born to serve our generation and not to live for ourselves. This is the expectation of the heavens which we must not miss. David for instance met this expectation as confirmed in Acts 13:36. Are you meeting this expectation too? What are you doing to serve your generation? You can’t afford to disappoint God and your generation. Quit living a self-centered life. It is time to do something for your generation. Ask God for guidance!
Confession: I am born to serve my generation.
