Scripture Reading: Jude1:3
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Reflection: You have a duty to perform, Jude reminds the church. The duty is to earnestly contend for the faith, he points out clearly to them. To contend for means to ‘resist and surmount an opposing factor’. Jude’s admonition speaks of how people in league with the enemy of the faith will seek to limit the work of the faith in our lives and that of others. A key example is the rise of false Prophets and their teachings. It simply leads people away from the truth thus depriving them of true and authentic salvation. Jude describes them as ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness’. Once saved, you must not sit down for others to pollute the gospel and prevent people from walking in truth. Your duty is to speak up and show people the truth while exposing these false prophets. This is one way to contend for the faith. Don’t shun your duty of contending for the faith.
Prayer: Oh Lord, let the works of false prophets be scattered in Jesus name.
Confession: I stand to defend the faith. I will speak against what I know to be false doctrines. I will pray against the works of false prophets.
