Scripture Reading: Matthew 12:20
“A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.”
Reflections: This verse portrays the tender and compassionate nature of Jesus as He fulfills His mission. A “bruised reed” symbolizes the weak and vulnerable, while “smoking flax” represents those barely holding on. Instead of discarding or dismissing such individuals, Jesus handles them with care, offering hope and restoration. In discharging our responsibilities, whether to those we lead, serve, or encounter, our words and actions should reflect Christ’s example. A kind word can mend a bruised heart, and a patient response can reignite a dimly burning hope. By being mindful of others’ struggles and showing grace, we participate in God’s work of restoration and healing.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to reflect Your gentleness in my dealings with others.
Confession: I am guided by the Spirit of gentleness.
