scripture Reading: Phil 4:12
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Reflections: Paul tells the Philippians that he has over the years learnt the secret of how to live through any kind of situation and that it is no big deal for him to have enough or nothing to live on. This secret of Paul which enables him to thrive and forge ahead in life is no doubt, the adaptive skills he developed overtime. Everyone must develop adaptive skills in life. Adaptive skills are defined as ‘practical, everyday skills needed to function and meet the demands of one’s environment, including the skills necessary to effectively and independently take care of oneself and to interact with other people’. Paul confirms that the source of his adaptive skills is Christ (Philippians 4:13). This means that as long as Christ lives in you, you have the skills to adapt to changing conditions and to eventually emerge victoriously. Like Paul, you too can live through any kind of situation!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that with you I can live through any kind of situation.
Confession: I can live through any situation through Christ who strengthens me.
