Scripture Reading: 1Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Reflections: The salutation of Peter in his epistle to the Thessalonians directs the people to the existence of a lively hope brought into being by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The word ‘lively’ speaks of something which is long lasting and eternal in nature. Hope on the other hand is ‘a conviction of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen’. While all other hopes can fail to meet expectations, the hope classified as lively is incapable of this defect. This is because it is driven by the resurrection of Jesus and his ascension into heaven. In this regard, our hope to also resurrect after death and take that upward flight to meet and be with Him forever, is a foregone and irreversible conclusion. You have an immortal hope as you can see. Carry on! Any grounds to abandon the faith is therefore misguided and baseless.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the booster of my faith – immortal hope!
Confession: I have no grounds to quit the faith. I have an immortal hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
