Thursday, 21st June 2018:You must learn to keep secrets!

Scripture Reading:Luk 1:24 -25
And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

Reflections: Elizabeth had been barren almost all her life. At a very old age, God came through for her. She got pregnant with a child who was going to prepare the way for the ministry of Jesus Christ. However she chose to keep this pregnancy a secret for a time rather than broadcasting it as an uncommon breakthrough. By her action, we can see it is important to know when to share certain information and when to keep our mouths shut. Samson for instance encountered his downfall because he failed to keep the secret of his strength(Judges 16:4–22). Esther on the other hand chose to keep her nationality a secret and this aided her in her bid to contest for the position of a queen in a foreign land (Esther 2:20). For sure, there are times when you must just keep things to yourself. Just learn to keep secrets!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to keep my mouth shut when I don’t have to speak.
Confession: I speak only when I have to. I know how to keep my mouth shut when I am expected to do so.
