Scripture Reading: 2 Cor 1:4
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Reflection: As Christians we are allowed to go through tribulations or difficult times in life. Oftentimes these tribulations ushers us into seasons of sorrows, sadness or emotional disturbances. Tribulations however are not meant to break us but to make us stronger in our faith. The Apostle Paul reminds the Corinthian church that in such moments of tribulations, we are not left alone but are comforted by God who also expects us to comfort others. The word ‘comfort’ comes from the Greek word ‘Parakaleo’. The word is made up of ‘para’ meaning beside, and ‘kaleo’ meaning to call. It implies someone calling himself/herself to be beside another, providing that person solace in a time of sadness, grieve or sorrow. As God comforts you, don’t forget you also have a role to comfort others. Go ahead and step into that role – the heavens will be glad!
Prayer: Lord I thank you for your comfort which enables me to go through tribulations. Help me to be a source of comfort to others.
Confessions: I am comforted by God in life. I am also a source of comfort to many in life.
